 CONSERVING WITH INSULATING

FIRST WE SAVE, THEN WE PAY

THE HOME IS THE FASTEST AND BEST PLACE TO CONSERVE IN YOUR DAILY LIFE, DON'T LOSE HEAT OVER SPILT INSULATION...

Savings –
Double-Glazed windows insulate houses well - $40 a month
Resist wood and aluminum framed windows - $10 a month
Use Storm Doors to insulate Exterior Doors - $5 a month
Weather-stripping for all exterior doors - $5 a month
Garage Doors need weather stripping and insulation - $5 a month
Curtains and Blinds insulate as an extra precaution - $10 a month

Double-Glazed windows insulate houses well: Windows are great insulators or can leak air at great amounts as well.  Buy Double glazed windows, these two panes of glass are separated and sealed airtight. For more efficiency that airtight area should be filled with gases such as argon, which insulate that space like insulation. These windows can cut heat transfer by 40-50%.  Also look for triple glazed windows for extreme cold regions.
Resist wood and aluminum framed windows: Resist allowing wood or aluminum/metal frames to encase your windows.  These frames also allow air transfer into your house.  You best bet is with full vinyl frames for they are great insulators and easy to repair.
Use Storm Doors to insulate Exterior Doors: Replace all single glazed windows.  Those that cannot be replaced such as on doors, protect them by installing a storm door on the exterior of the door.  This allows less heat transfer and during the summer allows light in and secures air in. In addition, place storm doors at all entrances of the house.
Weather-stripping for all exterior doors: Install new weather-stripping around your exterior doors every 3 years, this helps door resist heat transfer by 15-30 percent.
Garage Doors need weather stripping and insulation: Place good weather-stripping around garage doors.  Make sure that if you turn off the lights in your garage that you cannot see light around your garage door.  Also install insulation boards in your garage door.  These boards are made specifically for each garage door and are made to simply slide into place.
Curtains and Blinds insulate as an extra precaution: Another great precaution and extra insulator is window blinds and curtains.  Closing the blinds and curtains will retain more heat within the house and cool air in the summers.
