GLOBAL WARMING - SEA LEVEL INCREASE
DON'T FORGET TO ADD A COMMENT AT THE END OR

WE ARE CARETAKERS OF THIS EARTH

HAS THE SEA LEVEL INCREASED?:
Around the world, sea levels have been rising at an average rate of 1.7 mm/year (+/- 0.5mm) over the last 100 years. This is considered a significant amount above the average from the past 1000 years.

Research is a little skeptchy since we were not measuring water levels over 200 years ago. These levels can only be read out of sediment on different shores but even this can be misread. As far as we know the sea levels have raised 1.7 mm/year on average over the last 30-40 years.

Carbon Cycle

Some may ask why this is happening, is it run off from land precipitation over a long period of time, most likely not since the water evaporates from the ocean and gets redeposited here on land. Is it from glaciers falling into ocean? Ice shelfs, glaciers, and other forms of ice have been falling into the ocean over the past thousands of years, and precipitation has been redeposited back on arctic land. See Glaciers and Ice Melt to answer this question.

The oceans have been rising over the past thousands of years and will not stop tomorrow, some glaciers receed while some proceed or grow. Ice shelfs melt and fall into oceans and water is redeposited on land. Ice melts into the ocean and the ocean level rise. This is a normal cycle that has been happening for thousands of years and will not stop with the end of "Global Warming" the question now should ask, are we contributing to the average rise in level? That all depends on this discussion. If we are causing Global Warming and those greenhouse gases travel to the poles, melting the snow, then the answer is yes. But do we know yet if Global Warming is all man-made, that has yet to be determined.
