• If a tree planted in an acre of land offsets 13-48 lbs of CO2 each year and you can plant 300 trees (under federal regulation) in this acre, you will be offsetting from 2.6 – 7.2 tons of carbon. Research shows 2.6 tons are more likely to be offsetted per acre.
• If a tree planted in an urban forest offsets approximately 720 lbs of carbon, (these have to be placed correctly) you can plant a max of 3 trees in each yard to shade a home, to have 720 lb efficiency.
